Freight & Logistics
Shipping From China to UK
Sauce Asia provides China-to-UK freight and logistics services for UK businesses importing goods from Chinese manufacturers and suppliers.
You do not need to use Sauce Asia for sourcing or manufacturing to use our freight service.
China Golden Week Shipping Update — 14 September 2026
China's National Day holiday runs from 1–7 October. Carriers have sharply increased announced blank sailings across the major East–West trades, including Asia–Europe services. Importers should confirm factory completion, inspection, collection and vessel-booking dates now.

What we can arrange
Freight & Logistics Services
Sea Freight
For larger commercial shipments where transit time allows. Available as Full Container Load (FCL) or Less than Container Load (LCL) depending on your shipment volume.
Air Freight
For urgent, smaller or higher-value shipments. Some customers air freight an urgent quantity while shipping the remaining production by sea.
LCL Consolidation
Businesses do not need enough goods to fill an entire container. LCL allows smaller commercial shipments to move as part of a consolidated container.
UK Delivery
Following customs clearance, Sauce Asia can arrange onward transport and delivery directly into your UK warehouse or other agreed commercial destination.
Customs Clearance
Sauce Asia can help coordinate the UK customs-clearance process, including product descriptions, HS codes, shipment values and relevant shipping documentation.
Multi-Supplier Consolidation
Where you purchase from several different manufacturers in China, it may be possible to consolidate goods before international shipment.
Sea freight from China to UK
Sea freight is the most cost-effective option for larger commercial shipments from China to the UK. Sauce Asia can arrange sea freight on both a Full Container Load (FCL) and Less than Container Load (LCL) basis.
Transit times for sea freight from China to the UK typically range from four to six weeks depending on the origin port, destination port and routing. Sauce Asia will advise on current transit times when providing a quotation.
LCL (Less than Container Load)
LCL is suitable for smaller commercial shipments that do not fill an entire container. Goods are consolidated with other shipments into a shared container. LCL is a cost-effective option for businesses that do not have sufficient volume for a full container.
FCL (Full Container Load)
FCL is suitable for larger shipments that fill or nearly fill a standard shipping container. FCL typically offers better cost-per-unit rates than LCL for larger volumes and provides greater control over the container and its contents.
Getting a Quote
What we need to quote
To provide an accurate freight quotation, Sauce Asia will need the following information:
- Collection address or city in China
- Destination address or postcode in the UK
- Approximate shipment dimensions (length, width, height in cm)
- Approximate gross weight (kg)
- Number of cartons or pallets
- Product description and HS commodity code if known
- Preferred shipping method (sea or air)
- Estimated ready-to-ship date
Contact Sauce Asia with as much of this information as possible and we will provide a current quotation.
UK Delivery
UK delivery after customs clearance
Following customs clearance, Sauce Asia can arrange onward transport and delivery directly into your UK warehouse or other agreed commercial destination. We can coordinate the complete logistics chain from the Chinese factory to your door.
UK customs clearance
When commercial goods arrive in the UK, they need to pass through customs. Sauce Asia can help coordinate the customs-clearance process for customers using our freight service.
Required information can include product descriptions, shipment values, country of origin, commodity or HS codes and relevant shipping documentation. Import duty and VAT may apply depending on the products and circumstances.
Where specialist customs or tax advice is required, customers should obtain appropriate professional advice.
Shipping Costs and Charges From China to the UK
The total cost of shipping from China to the UK depends on a number of factors. International freight prices are not always static, and the overall charge for a shipment will vary based on:
- Collection location in China
- Shipment dimensions and volume (CBM)
- Gross weight (kg)
- FCL or LCL (full container or shared container)
- Air freight or sea freight
- UK customs clearance charges
- Final UK delivery postcode and access requirements
- Shipping capacity and vessel availability
- Fuel costs and seasonal demand
- Port congestion and route disruption
- Container availability
- Global supply-chain conditions
Because freight markets can change and shipment costs depend on the specific details of each consignment, customers should contact Sauce Asia for a current quotation based on their particular shipment.
Need Help With Quality Control Before Shipping?
Even if Sauce Asia did not originally source your supplier, customers can speak to us about additional support in China. Depending on the circumstances and requirements, our China-based team may be able to assist with factory visits or quality inspections before goods leave China.
This can be particularly useful where a UK customer has purchased goods directly from a Chinese manufacturer but wants additional reassurance before shipment.
Need Help Finding a Manufacturer as Well?
For businesses that don't already have a Chinese supplier, Sauce Asia provides a much broader China sourcing and manufacturing service. We can help with:
- Finding suitable Chinese manufacturers
- Supplier assessment
- Factory visits
- Sampling and product development
- Production monitoring
- Quality inspections
- Shipping, customs clearance and UK delivery
This allows customers to use Sauce Asia for as much or as little of the China supply chain as they require.
Why Sauce Asia
Why UK businesses use Sauce Asia for China freight
Sauce Asia has been managing China-to-UK shipments since 1999. Our experience covers a wide range of product types, shipment sizes and logistics requirements — from small LCL consignments to full container loads of manufactured goods.
We provide a single point of contact for the entire logistics process, coordinating collection, freight, customs clearance and UK delivery on behalf of our customers.
Project example
Machinery Manufactured in Foshan and Shipped to England
This project involved manufacturing machinery in China at a factory in Foshan, followed by protective export packing, container loading and sea freight to England. Sauce Asia managed the project from production through to freight, coordinating the factory, packing team, haulier and freight booking throughout.
Manufacturing and production coordination
Sauce Asia managed the manufacture of the machines with a factory in Foshan, coordinating production and maintaining communication between the factory and the customer throughout the manufacturing phase. Foshan is one of China's principal manufacturing centres, with a well-established base of factories producing industrial and commercial equipment for export.
Protective wooden export crates
Heavy machinery requires strong export packaging to reduce the risk of damage caused by impact, movement, moisture and repeated handling during international transport. The machines were packed in substantial wooden crates built to protect the equipment throughout the sea freight journey.
The timber used for the crates was FSC certified, sourced from responsibly managed forests. FSC certification relates to responsible timber sourcing; it is separate from any wood-packaging or phytosanitary requirements that may apply to international shipments.
Container loading and freight to England
Once the machines were packed, Sauce Asia coordinated the loading of the crates into the shipping container and managed the China-to-UK sea freight. Shipping machinery from China to the UK requires careful coordination between the factory, the packing team, the haulier and the freight booking — Sauce Asia handled this as a single managed service.
Customs clearance and UK delivery
Sauce Asia can arrange customs clearance and final delivery to a UK warehouse when required, providing a single point of contact from factory to destination for customers who need it.
