Sauce Asia visited an electronics manufacturing partner in Shenzhen to review the manufacture, assembly and inspection of a custom printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) used within a larger electromechanical product. Our involvement included reviewing the assembled boards, component placement, connectors, wiring, cable management, integration into the finished equipment and functional testing.

The Factory Visit
Shenzhen is one of the world's leading centres for electronics manufacturing. The city's supply chain infrastructure — from component distributors and PCB fabricators to assembly houses and test facilities — makes it a natural base for PCBA production serving global markets, including the UK.
During the visit, the Sauce Asia team reviewed the manufacturing process at each stage, from the bare boards and component placement through to the completed assemblies. We examined the quality of soldering, the positioning and seating of connectors, the routing and management of wiring harnesses, and the way in which the PCBA was integrated into the surrounding electromechanical structure.
Functional testing was also observed as part of the visit. Reviewing the test process directly — rather than relying solely on a factory-issued test report — gives a clearer picture of how testing is carried out and what it covers.
